Choose to make a difference.
Earth is the only home we have.
Everyone needs clean, safe, fresh water.
Thinking out-loud about water, trees, books, and the "triple bottom line" of: profit, people, and planet.
COMING IN 2025
noun : a valuable gain
verb : 1. to be of service or advantage, 2. to derive benefit
Profit is when you make more than you spend.
When people think about profitability they primarily think about monetary gains. Profit is also about other gains. For example:
Companies can give employees time each week to do social good. Companies such as 3M, Google, Atlassian, Targetprocess, and others give their employees time each week to work on passion projects, including social good initiatives.
Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is when a corporation proactively works to do good. CSR initiatives can accomplish tremendous good for people, the planet, and the company.
A psychologically safe work environment is a vibrant and healthy place that takes care of employees who can pay their bills, feed their families, and be happy in their work because they have purpose.
A multiple-year study (code-named Project Aristotle) proved that psychological safety is the #1 success factor for Google.
Psychological safety is when people are accountable and they feel safe being their authentic selves.
Do well by doing good. Do no harm. Do better than what the law requires. Be ethical. Commit to positive impact. Plant trees, clean water, and work toward a zero imprint on the planet.
Volunteer side-by-side with your employees donating your time.
Donate a percentage of your profits as many companies do. Patagonia has donated 1% of their profits for years. Mātanga Hāpai, the publisher of SoWai: A Novel, also donates 1% of all SoWai profits.
Whatever you can do will make a difference.
Be part of the solution.
